Clark Planetarium

The kids and I went to Clark Planetarium today. We wanted to see a couple of shows before they changed the schedule on the 28th. And we had some time because the kids only had individual piano lessons in the morning and no group piano lessons that are in the afternoon to early evening.

We saw The Alps and Fly Me to the Moon. The Alps had gorgeous scenery and an interesting story of a man who went to climb the mountain that his father had died climbing in the 60's.

We also got popcorn and drinks. The popcorn was not good, it tasted like cardboard and we will not get it there again. We have a membership to Clark Planetarium that expires in January so we are trying to see as many shows as we can before the membership expires.

Kids' Posts

Since a lot of what happens in our family will be posted on the kids blogs I will just mention it and have everyone click over to their blogs. If you click on the different colored word in my post it will take you to their blogs. They are doing their blogs by themselves, I am not helping. They love getting comments so thanks to everyone who has commented so far and please keep it up.

Anna Marie had a flute recital on Saturday. She posted the video of her song, you can click on the play arrow at the bottom of her picture to hear most of the song. Both she and Daniel posted about our visit to Wheeler Historic Farm.

Utah Youth Guild

We had been trying for some time to attend the Utah Symphony as a family. I could get $8 tickets for the kids as students but the tickets for Revere and I were expensive. Well, we found the Utah Youth Guild

The Youth Guild was only $15 to join then we bought vouchers for 4 tickets for each of us, parent price $32 and child price $16. So we get to see at least 4 concerts this year and each will be for less than it costs for our family to see a movie (not that we ever go to the movies).

So last night we went to Shostakovich’s Response The program was as follows:

MOZART: OVERTURE TO DON GIOVANNI

WOLFGANG AMADÈ MOZART: Born in Salzburg, January 27, 1756; died in Vienna, December 5, 1791

BRITTEN: VIOLIN CONCERTO, OP. 15
I. Moderato con moto –
II. Vivace –
III. Passacaglia: Andante lento (un poco meno mosso)

BENJAMIN BRITTEN: Born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, November 22, 1913; died in Aldeburgh, December 4, 1976

SHOSTAKOVICH: SYMPHONY NO. 5 IN D MINOR, OP. 47
I. Moderato
II. Allegretto
III. Largo
IV. Allegro non troppo

DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH: Born in St. Petersburg, September 25, 1906; died in Moscow, August 9, 1975

It was very good and Emma and Daniel did fine even though it started at 8pm. We were on row 12 and 13 in the middle which I think were good seats. We were a little flustered finding parking (we forgot the checkbook) and were afraid Revere would have to park far away and then walk over. We found a close parking lot but were a few cents short of the price of $10. The attendant laughed and told us we could get in for $5. We really appreciated that.

A Little Info About Us

My kids are telling me to hurry and start my blog since they have been posting for the last week. Their blogs are listed on the side of mine. Our parakeet Sammy has a blog too.

My name is Sheri Lee and I am in my thirties, homeschooling my kids using the k12 program provided by Washington School District here in Utah. We have been having fun this year going on lots of "fieldtrips".

We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My husband Revere and I were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1994. My parents are on a mission in Santiago, Chile at their LDS Employment Center. Revere's parents and quite of bit of our family live in Idaho.
